Pistol Training Classes
The Concealed Handgun Permit (CHP) course offers in-depth training on pistol safety, operation, and the essential knowledge required to legally and responsibly carry a concealed handgun in Colorado. This course includes both a written exam and shooting proficiency assessment to ensure you meet all necessary requirements. Upon successful completion, you will earn the certificate needed to apply for your Concealed Handgun Permit (CHP) in the state of Colorado.
No driving between locations! The classroom and shooting assessment both take place at Liberty Firearms Institute, a 5-star indoor facility.
Defensive Pistol 100 is designed for shooters who want to strengthen their fundamentals, enhance their training, and potentially obtain their Concealed Handgun Permit (CHP). This eight-hour course combines Colorado’s CHP requirements with additional shooting time, giving students more bang for their buck. Following the “crawl, walk, run” training philosophy, students will develop and practice both intermediate and advanced pistol skills through a blend of classroom instruction and live-fire range training.
As one of the few CHP courses in Colorado that teaches students to shoot from the holster, Defensive Pistol 100 offers a unique, practical training experience. An outside-the-waistband (OWB) holster is required for this portion of the course.
The Defensive Pistol 110 (formally BP102) is open to all Makhaira Group Alumni of Concealed Handgun Permit (formally BP101). This is a range only session, reviewing the fundamentals of marksmanship with a focus on improvement of accuracy and safe gun handling skills learned in Defensive Pistol 100.
Must Complete Defensive Pistol 100 or Defensive Pistol 110
Defensive Pistol 120 is a range only session building on the fundamentals of marksmanship while introducing advanced skills and weapon manipulation. The focus will be on improvement of accuracy during combat grip shooting, strong hand only, and support hand only shooting. This session will also include safe gun handling during one handed emergency reloads, malfunction clearance and drawing from the holster.
These courses are designed to enhance your knowledge and capability on pistol-mounted Red Dot sights. Red Dot Pistol 130 is for the beginning red dot pistol shooter. Gain understanding of function and tactics using your red dot equipped handgun. Find a functional sight zero and begin using your new sight system to enhance your shooting capabilities. This class is taught by NRA certified instructors with military, special operations or high-level law enforcement experience.
Must Complete Defensive Pistol 100 or Defensive Pistol 110
Research shows that 80% of shootings occur under low or no-light conditions. Learn to use various light techniques both with weapon mounted light platforms as well as handheld light sources while engaging targets at various ranges. This class is taught by NRA certified instructors with military, special operations or high-level law enforcement experience.
We will help you work through real-life events and teach you proven survival techniques through reality based scenarios. Students will be taught how to tactically make decisions in high stress situations and how to use real world techniques to survive a variety of violent encounters. Focus will be on engaging threats with real-world speed and accuracy necessary for you to survive. This course will expand your firearms skills in real-world situations. You will walk away from this course with a whole new outlook on the world!
Must Complete Force on Force 150
Defensive Pistol 120 is a range only session building on the fundamentals of marksmanship while introducing advanced skills and weapon manipulation. The focus will be on improvement of accuracy during combat grip shooting, strong hand only, and support hand only shooting. This session will also include safe gun handling during one handed emergency reloads, malfunction clearance and drawing from the holster.
Must Complete Defensive Pistol 100 or Defensive Pistol 110
This course expands on Defensive Pistol 100 and will truly take your tactical pistol skills to the advanced level. Continuing in the “crawl, walk, run” methodology, students will learn and practice intermediate and advanced tactical pistol skills both in the classroom and on the live-fire range.
Must Complete Defensive Pistol 100 or Defensive Pistol 110
Defensive Pistol 300 is an advanced skill level course where even minuet improvements in your technique will lead to major increases in outcomes. You will learn inhibited equipment manipulations and how to clear equipment malfunctions while physically impaired. You’ll learn how to improve your presentation speed and accuracy to a level that would amaze the wild west pros, a level you never believed possible.
Must Complete Defensive Pistol 100 or Defensive Pistol 110
This course is designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary to effectively respond to high-risk situations, particularly when confronted by a violent offender in close-quarters encounters. Through a combination of realistic scenarios and specialized training techniques, students will learn how to prevent an assailant from gaining control of their firearm, ensuring they are better prepared to handle situations that may escalate into physical confrontations.

All students will be provided an OPSIN DNVM1 Digital Night Vision Device to use during the class at no cost.
Makhaira Group’s Night Fighter classes are designed to develop advanced Gun Fighting skills in little-to-no light environments including: fundamentals, basic theory/technical explanation, gear set-up, use and dexterity, marksmanship, and moving while shooting individually and in a two-man team. The Night Fighter 100 classes provide night vision fundamentals and familiarization, dexterity and movement drills (non-firing), and Live fire marksmanship drills & fundamentals.
