Which SSF Course Do You Need?
Colorado SB25-003 offers two training pathways, based on whether you have completed a CPW Hunter Education course. Select your course to see upcoming dates and register. All classes are held at Liberty Firearms Institute in Johnstown, serving Fort Collins, Greeley, Loveland, Longmont, Windsor, Denver, and Northern Colorado.
4-Hour Basic SSF Course — $124 $99
For applicants who hold a valid CPW Hunter Education certificate.
12-Hour Extended SSF Course — $224 $199
For applicants without Hunter Education, delivered over two consecutive days.
What Is Senate Bill 25-003?
Senate Bill 25-003 creates new training and eligibility requirements for individuals seeking to purchase certain semiautomatic firearms in Colorado. Beginning August 1, 2026, eligible purchasers must:
- Complete a state-certified SSF training course approved by Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW)
- Meet additional application requirements through their local Sheriff’s Office
