DESCRIPTION:Using didactic methods that align with the 2nd edition of NAEMT’s Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) course teaches EMS practitioners and other prehospital providers how to respond to and care for patients in a civilian tactical environment. \n  \nThe course presents the three phases of tactical care and integrates parallel EMS nomenclature: \n\nHot Zone/Direct Threat Care that is rendered while under attack or in adverse conditions.\nWarm Zone/Indirect Threat Care that is rendered while the threat has been suppressed but may resurface at any point.\nCold Zone/Evacuation Care that is rendered while the casualty is being evacuated from the incident site. \n\n  \nThe 8-hour course includes all new patient simulations and covers the following topics: \n\nHemorrhage control including immediate action drills for tourniquet application throughout the course;\nComplete coverage of the MARCH assessment;\nSurgical airway control and needle decompression;\nStrategies for treating wounded responders in threatening environments;\nTechniques for dragging and carrying victims to safety along with evacuation procedures.\n\nAge Requirement: 18+ \nThis is not an advanced course; however\, a foundational understanding of casualty care is recommended.
