DESCRIPTION:Beginning August 1\, 2026\, Colorado law requires individuals purchasing certain specified semiautomatic firearms (SSFs) to complete state-approved firearms safety training before completing their purchase. \nThe Basic Firearms Safety Course is the 4-hour training option established by Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW). This course is intended for students who have already completed a CPW-recognized Hunter Education course and meet the eligibility requirements outlined by Colorado law. Students must also obtain a Firearms Safety Course Eligibility Card through their county sheriff before enrolling.
